Bruschettas And Barbecues

After being so many years together, you have got to keep the spark up. Hence, last Saturday it was wine & dine for us in one of our favourite Italian restaurants, Tiramisu.

On a sunny Sunday we went barbecuing.

Another couple moved on Wisteria Lane. ;) Because Sarah and Raphael are new in town, we decided to show them a little bit of Santiago's prettiest parts and enjoy one of the last summer days outside. What could be more Chilean pastime than barbecuing!?

The guys shared a pint of home - Cola Weizen!

Sarah showed me the real Italian way of doing bruschetta.

The menu of the day in El Arrayán's natural park included choripan, bruschetta, filet steaks and green salad. Dessert: fresh fruit plate!

The power of sunshine is amazing. Let's hope the autumn isn't at the door yet!

On the way back from the park we saw some Chilean cowboys, huasos.

And to top the lovely day, of course we had to go and see a motocross race "La ultima batalla del motocross - nacional Suzuki MX" a bit outside of the city in Laguna Caren.

Apparently famous racers also took part in the race: Leonardo Quintanilla, who won the race, and Vicente Israel.

Home Improvement

While Lukas was away on business last week, I had time to get creative and do some little improvements in the household. Now our living room's even cosier and has more that home-like feeling to it than before. Or what do you think?

A Look Back

Well, I'm back in Chile and the days have fallen into their normal tracks. However, before I show you what's going on in Chile, we'll have a look back at those last days in Finland and the week in Austria.

I was invited to my friend's baby's Christening in the south of Finland. Daniella Lisa was a good girl throughout the Christening.

I got to help my other good friend, Päivi, at work. I was glueing stickers for seven hours and so proud of myself afterwards.

After work we picked up Vivian from daycare and enjoyed the walk in fresh air in Vantaa.

Soon my time in Finland was up - for now - and a week in Vorarlberg waited. The programme in Austria included housewives' breakfasts, costume parties and kabarees, to name a few.

One of the cases when laughter bursted out was when some brotherly charmers became characters in costume:

On a girls' night out at the theatre in Götzis we saw "Achtung Ländle". The kabaree was on my last night - again, for now - in Austria.

The next day I flew to South America with Chilean wings. But more about that later...

The Latest Edition

The past few days have been really cold, like now it's -28°C so everyone has had to become creative in thinking how to spend time inside usefully. The good thing about the Siberian weather conditions is how beautiful the nature becomes. It's like it was meant to be seen through a glass, meant to be watched from inside a house or car.

Luckily I have had some work to do so surfing on the computer has suited me just fine. The other times off work I have spend mostly with our latest edition, the newest family member Justus. He's soon 5 months old, bold and daring, just a little rascal like a bear cub but for that even more lovable! For these few moments we captured he managed to stay still.

Justus in a pink Valentine's Day wrap.

The actor and hunk Ashton Kutcher has once said about Valentine's Day [as quoted in People]:
"I hate Valentine's Day," Kutcher tells Parade magazine. But he doesn't hate the lovey-dovey sentiment that is celebrated every Feb. 14: In fact, he feels quite the opposite.

"I think every day should be a day of romance," he says. "Then, on Valentine's Day, you should get to tell whoever you hate that you cannot stand them. There would be one day of hating, and 364 days of love."

Although I agree completely with what he says, I dare that and sounding corny by wishing you all a Happy Valentine's Day!

Ice Queens

After a long while - maybe the last time I did ice skating a few years back with Claudia in Austria - I thought it's time to go and try again. Luckily I got my friend Outi to join me! The wind was quite cold and it was snowing but the worst part was to tie the laces.

I was a bit rusty, but after a while of hee-ya moves and finding the core balance it started to come back to my mind again.

Ice skating is a great sport like jogging in the summer - it's economic and you get fresh air!

Although I look like a queen on the skates, it's possible that I need still some practice before I'm as good as Kiira Korpi. Ok, that goes also to my list of still-to-do's...

To the end some wise words from Dr. Wayne W. Dyer:

The state of your life
is nothing more than
a reflection of your
state of mind.
