The idea for the dinner party came a few weeks ago as we were talking about typical German and Austrian food with a housewife friend of mine. Although Santiago has some excellent restaurants, very typical food from home is not something you get here.
There was a birthday coming up so I thought it would be a nice surprise to organise a little group of friends together and eat, well, something from home but cooked by us. It worked out as planned because the birthday hero was away on business on the official date.
In this case, the menu looked like the following:

It roughly translates into:
Birthday MenuWelcome Drink Tomato SoupRoast Pork with Bread Dumplings and Green SaladCoffee and Black Forest Gateau
The table was set nicely - also extra thought was put on the decoration.

It took lots of planning, organising and many visits to various supermarkets to find what we needed. Luckily, Sarah was helping me throughout the project.

Preparing the dumplings.

It was a nice challenge for us since neither of us had ever cooked this kind of meal before. Another test for our skills came from finding all the necessary ingredients and cooking material needed to prepare the planned menu.

The seasoned roast pork going into the oven.

Everything was ready as the birthday hero arrived.

The main course looked quite delicious, if I may say!

Later that night we did some chatting, dancing and deejaying. ;) All in all, the dinner worked out well, everyone was enjoying it and having a lot of fun!
